Community of Practice: Chair Yoga Looking for a way to practice yoga from the comfort of your own chair? Well, come join us in the Colegrove Park gym. Accessible to all levels, chair yoga is a safe, restorative practice that is taught through a trauma-informed approach. Every Thursday from 3:30 to 4:00 Colegrove Park Elementary School Gym Please RSVP to slazzari@napsk12.org All you have to bring is yourself and comfy clothes. Open to all staff and community members. Please consult your doctor before participating in a new exercise regimen.

Today the 5th grade at Colegrove welcomed Hon. Mark Pasquariello for Judicial Outreach Month. He taught a bit about the branches of government, and students had a chance to participate in their own jury simulation. Thank you for visiting, Hon. Pasquariello!

On Tuesday, 3/19, the North Adams Police Department and BE SMART Program will be hosting a BE SMART Safe Storage Workshop from 6-7 pm in the North Adams PD Training Room (21 Holden Street). The night will start off with a presentation from BE SMART followed by an open floor for questions answered by the North Adams Police Department. Everyone in attendance will be entered into a raffle to win a safe. Free gun locks will be available. The Be SMART campaign was launched in 2015 to promote responsible gun ownership in order to reduce child gun deaths. Whether you’re a gun owner, or you know someone who owns a gun, there is a role for everyone in the conversation around secure gun storage. Be SMART is a framework that parents, caretakers, and community leaders can follow to help keep their communities safe. Ultimately, you can help prevent kids from accessing firearms by storing them securely, and encouraging others to do the same. Because children deserve to feel safe, no matter where they are. Our amazing North Adams teachers participated in collaborative professional development sessions on Thursday afternoon, delving into topics like mathematics instructional practices, self-regulated strategy development in writing, school improvement planning, social-emotional learning, and more! The teachers in our district are incredibly reflective and continually work to hone their teaching practices and improve student outcomes.

College and Your Mental Health A webinar panel presentation for students and parents/caregivers about balancing the transition to college life while living with a mental health condition. The annual College and Your Mental Health program prepares students and parents for transition and success in a college environment for those living with a mental health condition. The panel includes a student currently balancing college life and mental health challenges and administrators from Middlesex Community College, UMass Lowell, and Boston University. Students, parents/caregivers, and high school counselors are invited to join our webinar—where your identity is private—on Monday, March 18th, 7:00–8:30 pm. Massachusetts State SNAP Supplement The Department of Transitional Assistance is pleased to announce the launch of the new State SNAP Supplement effective February 14th, 2024. This supplement will help lawfully-present immigrants who are living in Massachusetts buy food. People who do not qualify for federal SNAP benefits may qualify for this. Starting February 14, many individuals and families will begin receiving the State SNAP Supplement. If a person applied for SNAP before December 4 and was denied, they should reapply. If a person applied for SNAP after December 4, they do not need to reapply, even if they were denied.
